Joining HLL in 2011 following 8 years at the View First Group, my initial challenge was to assist with the repositioning of West Riding House, a tired, 150,000 sq. ft. retail and office asset in central Leeds. HLL had assisted the Moorfield Group in acquiring the investment from LPA Receivers at a price of £45m. Ahead of rebranding, close to £5m was invested in the replacement of Lifts, Air Conditioning and major enhancements of circulation areas and the MSCP.

This marketing support role expanded into wider asset management responsibilities as the interface with the building owners through monitoring and reporting of the M&E replacement works. This experience became a driving factor in the later decision to complete a Master’s Degree Course in Facilities Management at Leeds Becket University.

With the upgrade completed and the rebranding of the office tower as “Pinnacle” resulting in new key lettings, the asset was sold by Moorfield to Hudson Advisors in 2015, for close to £60M.

My asset and facilities management experience was transferred into ongoing projects, with Joint Venture partners, including the GMI Group, Chartford Homes and the Rushbond Group.

Since the appointment as Director in June 2015, I have further added to my experience of the planning, development, leasing and investment process. This has enabled me to take the lead for the company’ response to demand for Build to Rent and bespoke Student accommodation, where HLL now holds a range of instructions to work with acquiring funds based across the UK, Ireland and North America. My focus centres on expanding the Holbeck Land network together with sourcing and advising on both development and investment opportunities.
