Ian Barraclough
Commenced a career in property with the Arndale Property Company, qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor with the Estates Department of Leeds City Council following attendance at Liverpool College of Building.
Nine years followed with MEPC plc in Leeds, Toronto and for four years with the City of London Office. Returned to Leeds in 1981 to join Bernard Thorpe for 13 years, seven as Managing Partner of the Yorkshire Offices and following a merger with Debenham Tewson and Chinnocks, four years as Chair of the Northern Offices, representing the region on the Operational Board of DTZ plc.
Joining the Board of St James Securities in 1998 and as MD, delivered an extensive portfolio of projects with Joint Venture Partners including Yorkshire Building Society, HBOS, CTP, Bank of Scotland and Landmark Developments. Significant projects included The Light, a 300,000 sq. ft. Leisure hotel and retail destination, the 30 storey Bridgewater Place offices and residential development, the delivery of a master planning consent for 2.7m sq. ft. and the construction of the first phase and MSCP of Wellington Place for the Britel Fund.
Following a decision of the majority shareholders to withdraw from development activity, founded Holbeck Land Limited with fellow Director Freddie Coupe in 2008.
Positions held include, a Board appointment through the 10 year lifetime of the City Council owned Leeds City Development Company, Membership of the Harehills Neighbourhood Renewal Board, the Headingley Ground Improvement Committee during the construction of the East and West Stands and the Property Group of the Tetley Gallery.
