Joy, the fashion and lifestyle retailer is taking 11,000 sq ft of prime retail space at 63-65 albion street, which forms part of the pinnacle building, leeds. The store is set to open at the end of may/early june and will become the retailer's flagship store.
JOY, which sells unique fashion, accessories and stylish gifts will relocate from The Light to Albion Street which sees an average weekly footfall of 140,000 per week, which is only set to increase due to its close proximity to Trinity Leeds. The relocation confirms the city's shifting retail landscape anchored by Trinity Leeds.
Albion Street marks exciting new territory for JOY; a two floor mega store with a brand new store concept and expanded fashion and gift offering. The move illustrates JOY's commitment to build on their existing contribution to the retail experience in Leeds and continued dedication to engage and excite shoppers in the city.
Maureen O'Brien, Managing Director at JOY said: "After a happy and enjoyable 8 years at The Light, we are thrilled to have found this opportunity to move to a much larger retail environment where we can continue to stimulate our loyal Leeds customer base."
Mark Holmes from Moorfield; from the joint venture between Moorfield Group and Holbeck Land responsible for the Pinnacle, said "We are delighted that JOY will be opening their flagship store on Albion Street Leeds. Their presence will complement our already strong retail and leisure mix and reconfirms that our prime retail units along Albion Street and Bond Street are the retailer's location of choice."
Freddie Coupe, Director from Holbeck Land added: "JOY's desire to open on Albion Street and with a substantially increased footprint, speaks volumes for the new retailer confidence in Leeds. The opening of Trinity has been an important catalyst but there is more to come with the 13,500 Seater Arena bringing more consumers into Leeds, regularly, from September 2013."
JOY hope that the opening of its new store in Leeds will be the first of further stores in major Northern cities. As well as looking to increase their portfolio across London, the brand is actively seeking retail space across the North, with Manchester, Nottingham and Liverpool being of particular interest.
